About

Our Alliance

We are working together with Traditional Owners, local communities, scientists, recreation users, outdoors industry representatives and government to create new protected areas, so we can secure a healthy future for our wildlife, our shared cultural history and our treasured way of life.

We want all Queenslanders to have better access to the beautiful nature that our state has in abundance.

Vision

Our vision is to double Queensland’s protected areas by 2030 in well managed parks, private protected areas and Indigenous protected areas with inclusive, collaborative and well-funded management arrangements.

We want to live in a state with a world leading protected area network that meets state, national and international targets.

Where First Nations leadership is facilitated and the rich and living cultural heritage is celebrated.

Where active management of national parks and private protected areas is prioritised and well funded so landscapes are healthy and resilient, where wildlife thrives across the State’s many ecosystems.

Values

We are committed to fostering equitable access, well resourced and inclusive management, and greater opportunity for more people to enjoy the outdoors. We embrace non-partisan, evidence-based strategies, and collaborative efforts for lasting protection and conservation of natural and cultural values.

How we work

Protect Beautiful Queensland is a non-partisan, evidence-based collaboration providing decision makers with policy and delivery solutions in support of ambitious time-bound targets.

Our alliance includes:

We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We recognise the diverse cultures, histories and heritage of the many countries across Queensland and their deep connection to the lands, waters and seas. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
