Protect Beautiful Queensland Week of Action (April 20-28)
Queensland’s state forests, conservation areas and national parks will be a hive of activity this month with plant and animal surveys, forest bathing and tree planting.
Hundreds of people have pledged to take part in Protect Beautiful Queensland’s first week of action between April 20 and 28.
There are heaps of ways for individuals and groups to get involved. One of the simplist is to print off a “Protect Beautiful Queensland because…” sign, finish the sentence and take a photo of yourself in a favourite spot.
Why do you want to protect Queensland’s nature? Some of our favourite reasons are homes for our unique wildlife, the feeling of peace amongst the trees and safegaurding the land of some of the oldest living cultures on earth. What speaks to you?
Sign up here and we’ll send you a sign to print.
Groups are also getting together to host events, including plant and animal surveys at Toohey and Deongwar forests, koala spotting at Pooh Corner conservation area, forest bathing at Purga Nature Reserve, tree planting on the Sunshine Coast and bushwalking in the scenic rim.
Find out more about exisiting events here, or why not get your own group together? It’s as easy as going for a bushwalk with a group of mates.
Protect Beautiful Queensland’s goal is to double the state’s protected area estate in well managed parks that will give more people access to the nature they love.
